OUR STORY BEGAN IN THE MID 80'S, 1987 TO BE PRECISE.

I was working as a waiter in the district of Plaka around the base of the Acropolis in the old part of the capital, Athens. I met my partner whilst working here. We consequently met and married within the year. My partner was an English tutor and I worked in hospitality, mainly restaurants in Athens. 2 years in the Army during my national service, saw me expanding my knowledge as a cook/chef, serving my barracks on a daily basis but also being called upon to cater parties and meals or social events for my superiors.

We brought 2 beautiful children into the world. In 1991 and 99, my parents came to Athens to help look after the children, bringing with them their knowledge of cuisine from the north of Greece, preparing cooking and sharing recipes and dishes handed down through several generations.

In the summer of 2004, the Olympics came to Athens and we opened our restaurant up to the Swiss Olympic team, who brought their own cuisine to Athens for two weeks. This gave me an insight into a totally different kind of cuisine, catering and business acumen.

In 2008 my partner and children returned to England, but even though we had separated, we still remained close. 6 years later, I also emigrated to England to be near my family.

I worked within the hospitality community in Greek restaurants and learned from the inside. I worked on building up my knowledge on the other aspects of business and the intricacies of opening a business here in the UK. In 2018 I opened my first small business, building up our clientele and gaining recognition around our area. 2019 saw us locate to larger premises, further building and expanding our clientele and business. 2020 brought Covid to our door therefore, reducing us, and many others like us, to delivery only, which was difficult for all involved. We survived and we were rewarded by returning customers, expanded clientele and a loyalty we could only have dreamt of in the past. We were back to business in 2022, back to events and food festivals until today. An opportunity has risen to permanently stand in the new food hall market with the Derby council. They make a huge effort and investment, to rebuild the old building of the old market of Derby to set up the food hall and market. They have given us the opportunity to trade at the food hall, in the centre of Derby where you are sitting right now and enjoying our Greek food and taste experience. We are here to give you the best quality of food and a taste of Greece.
